An Empty Letter Box
"I pen these
lines that you might know
We often think of you
And to let you know that we are well
And trust that you are, too."
In olden days the
letters sent
Varied little in their style
But still conveyed a message clear
A laugh, a tear, a smile.
The young must
live their own lives
And we know that this is right
But old age can be so lonely
When the young neglect to write.
How long is it
since you have held
A ballpoint in your hand
And penned a loving letter home
To prove you love and understand?
In this busy,
rushing, hectic world,
Please spare some time tonight,
Turn off the television now,
Pick up your pen ... and write!
