AUSTINMER

Austinmer lovely Austinmer
Where the mountains meet the sea;
Filled and overflowing
With sweet memories for me.

Memories of precious friendships
More than half a century long,
Part of my heart will always
To Austinmer belong.

The immovable tree-clad mountains
Rearing up so rough and steep,
The ever-changing ocean
So mysterious and deep.

The headlands and the inlets,
Surfing beach and quiet bays,
The seagulls and the winding paths
Recall many happy days.

Austinmer, lovely Austinmer
Where the mountains meet the sea
Where time stands still and nothing changes
Or so it seems to me.

Having no huge shopping complex,
No towering masonry,
Helps me to ignore the changes
Father Time has imposed on me.

Though drawing mostly on memories,
The ties of friendship are loyal and strong;
And part of my heart will always
To Austinmer belong
