LAID ASIDE

Laid aside with illness,
God sometimes works this way,
I should not then resentful be
Of this price I have to pay.
Laid aside with illness,
Lacking the will to pray;
Too much in pain to call to mind,
The Word of God, to-day.
Laid aside with illness,
Too sick to concentrate;
Too ill for Christian service,
Too weak to pull my weight.
Laid aside with illness,
God knows what is best for me,
As he rids my heart and soul and mind
From each impurity.
Laid aside with illness
But when I'm well again,
I will be a purer vessel
Because of this bed of pain.
