Being the youngest of my family,
I often wore hand-me-down clothes;
The others laughed and teased me,
Calling me, "Second-Hand-Rose".
My mother told me not to be ashamed
To wear my clothes with dignity,
But she sometimes sacrificed to buy
Some brand-new clothes for me.
God could say at the Wedding Feast of the Lamb,
"I cannot accept your hand-me-down clothes,
Depart from me, I never knew you,
Or heard the name of Second-Hand-Rose."
But, Jesus sacrificed himself for me
And will deck me in pristine white clothes
I have been born anew in Jesus' name
Now I'm a Child of God, not Second-Hand-Rose!
